Healing from Trauma is Possible
When is the last time you felt “in the flow”? Have you been feeling angry? Do you have trouble sleeping at night? Do you find yourself withdrawing into isolation, unable to find your voice? These are a few symptoms that others dealing with unresolved trauma face every day. However, there is hope.
In this 90 minute group session Kathryn Bumgarner, RN, will be leading participants through exercises that will give you a greater understanding of how traumatic experiences are stored in the body, and how to regain a sense of wellbeing and relief, peace, calmness, groundedness, harmony and connection. Do you remember the last time you were “in the flow”? You will also leave with processes that expand your awareness of symptoms (possible triggers) as they emerge in you or loved ones, with a resource for powerful self-regulation.
Recent fascinating research on trauma and how the body processes trauma will be discussed, and how trauma is stored in the body, sometimes for many years.
Advances in neuroscience, indicate that trauma sensitive yoga and meditation are now considered evidence-based practices employed by trauma experts in trauma recovery. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, the pioneer in trauma research, states, “The trauma story is no longer that important. The problem is now due to the imprints of the residue left behind in the hormonal and sensory system.”
Participants will take with them a new understanding of how their body’s natural wiring is set to survival. It is always on an alert for danger and threats, and post traumatic stress recovery is a natural way the body maintains balance.
